Sept 22-25, 2010 North Shore color

Brief sojourn to the North Shore for hiking and appreciation of fall color. I have never seen color this intense or beautiful. Took many, many photographs which can't begin to do it justice. Stayed at the Lutsen Resort which was lovely. Breakfasts were very good. We were able to book sea kayaking with the resort activities person. Because it was somewhat chilly and very windy, we were the only guests brave enough to try it. The first day the winds were too high for Superior and also for the nearby inland lake they use as a fallback so they said they would try again our second day. We were successful using the inland lake on that day and had a great time. Hiked in the woods and also discovered a drive back to a little maple syrup place along the most amazing tree-lined roads ablaze with color. Did that drive on two successive days to appreciate color we may never see again. Bought some syrup on our second trip.
