I'd like to start this blog as a means of remembering my past vacations and wanderings, both large and small. Much of the fun of traveling comes from the preparation and the anticipation, and also from reminiscing. The actual experience is wonderful, but it's over so quickly.
I always used to say that travel was precious because no one could take away your memories, but as I get older, I realize that even this is not completely true. Time and aging may do what other people cannot. I want to be able to always look back on my memories of travel, even if I can't call the details to mind at the time.
The casual observer will note that food always plays a large part in my vacation memories. Ever since I was quite young, I would return to describe my vacations to friends and they would comment that all I mentioned was the food! I'm sure I also mentioned other things, but apparently the food memories were the most vivid. What can I say, I like to eat! I enjoy trying a variety of foods in a variety of places.
I always like to have something in life to anticipate, so I always look forward to the next vacation whether it is a major trip, a weekend day trip, or something in between. I enjoy returning to favorite locations and re-experiencing beloved places, but I also enjoy venturing into new places and new experiences.
Travel is truly the spice of life and the stuff of memories.
